Honk if you hate complaining

That is the slogan on one of Guinness’ ads. And it really gets stuck in your head, but that’s not why I’m mentioning it here.
I’ve heard that the reason they came up with this ad campaign (where people are shown complaining about anything and everything) is that a few of their previous ads have been pulled due to, you’ve guessed it haven’t you, people complaining. One of the ads featured a volcano erupting, for some reason people complained about it. The other was set on board the Titanic, and there were complaints that it was insensitive to those who had either relatives who died, or were survivors. So Guinness decided to launch their campaign about idiots who moan about nothing; hence honk if you hate complaining.

So I’ve decided to label any complaints or grumblings I post under honk, just because I like that ad, unlike that other evil ad, the “no we’ve got something to talk about” that seems to be on every single time I go to the cinema.

Guinness do have a great ad archive but it doesn’t cover their present campaigns so no real use if you want to view either of those.

Big Cats on Stilts - always good

Now even the lions can peep in those upstairs windows…
I wonder do they make smaller stilts for regular house kitties?

that lasted five days you’d think I could come up with something to blog about. Well I do have some ideas, but actually writing anything would require effort, and I’m still an hour off. How long can I keep that excuse do you reckon?

I suppose sports-wise the big news was the football qualifying games, and weren’t there a load of them. I’m not even going to try and comment on any but the Irish v Israel one though (despite watching Eurosport and thinking that Korea had a load of matches, before realising that although they used the exact same name, one was N. Korea, and the other was South). Have to say that the draw just wasn’t good enough, imo. Once that goal went in the team just sat back, content to keep what we had, until we didn’t have it any more.

But I suppose if we had lost the goal while attempting to score then all the commentators would be saying why didn’t we defend, so either way people would have something to complain about.

That does remind me though, at some stage (you hardly expect me to remember what day, they’ve all merged into Easter) Gerry Ryan had his sporting hitlist on the TV. I’m not a Ryan fan, but I did watch this. Can someone please explain why Paul McGrath was only no. 8? Paul McGrath was a god on the pitch. And while we all remember that save against Romania, I think Paul should’ve been higher than Packie.

Course maybe I’ve forgotten the results…

Welcome back

says the voice on the radio,

but unlike the Tom McRae song, neither of us was ever here before :)

As many people are no doubt aware, blogger has been having a little trouble lately. I debated moving to blogspirit where my book blog Susan Hated Literature lives, but then I didn’t want the hassle of moving. But then I was on wysiwyg and spotted that I could get a .ie blog. How could I resist? So here I am, moved in, although obviously I will be messing around with stuff over the next few days.
